All information about the language certificates (telc)

The exam for general German - Start Deutsch 2 / telc Deutsch A2 - confirms your communicative ability in everyday situations and demonstrates your German competence in reading, listening, writing and speaking at level A2. The exam is intended for all age groups who have attended between 250 and 300 lessons. This language level is a prerequisite for obtaining a visa to enter Germany for study purposes.

What can you do at level A2?
At level A2, you can communicate easily in typical everyday situations and hold short conversations.  You can also use simple grammatical structures correctly.

How is the exam structured?
The exam consists of a written and an oral section. The written exam lasts 70 minutes. Without any further preparation time, you usually take the oral exam immediately afterwards.

Written exam:
Listening (20 minutes), reading and writing (50 minutes)

Oral exam:
Usually together with another participant (15 minutes)

At the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM), you can then learn further levels of German up to the Telc German C1 university exam.

Foreign students have to demonstrate sufficient language skills at German universities. telc Deutsch C1 examinations serve as certification by the decision of the Hochschulrektor and Kultusministerkonferenz. According to § 8 of the RO-DT (Framework Regulation on German Language Examinations for Studying at German Universities), "holders of a certificate for the passed exam telc Deutsch C1" are exempted from proof of their ability to study at a language school. The new framework is binding since 12.02.2016 for all German universities.

Examination fee: 219,00 EUR
