Top university from Korea seeks insights into FHM's success in employment rate

SKKU visits FHM Bielefeld: Research into educational excellence and employability

Securing a place at a top university is a dream for many Korean students, driven by the prospect of employability. FHM stands out to Korean partners, including elite institutions such as SKKU (Sungkyunkwan University), due to its exceptional transition rates into employment. This is because FHM has employment statistics that surpass even those of the leading Korean universities.

A team led by Director Kim from SKKU embarked on a ten-day tour of Germany and Sweden in June to discover the secrets behind FHM's success. A key insight during the exchange with FHM's Korea expert, Christoph Pollmann, was the contrasting approach to restructuring in the two countries. In Korea, top-down government initiatives drive change, whereas in Germany a bottom-up approach involving stakeholders from science, education and business tends to be more effective.

The FHM's autonomous approach to reform and innovation

The FHM embodies a philosophy of continuous adaptation to changing conditions, independent of government-led programs. This proactive approach to reform and innovation attracted the interest of SKKU, the leading private university in Korea with a long-standing partnership with Samsung.

Despite SKKU's prominent status and successful collaborations, the constraints of its structured environment highlight the attractiveness of FHM's flexibility and responsiveness. This visit marks the beginning of a potential collaboration aimed at integrating FHM's innovative practices into SKKU's educational framework and creating an environment where both institutions can learn from each other.
