Fachhochschule des Mittelstands (FHM) and the University of Gloucestershire (UoG) are strengthening their successful collaboration in Cyber Security and Digital Innovation. Established in 2022, the partnership is now set for further expansion in the coming years. At the end of July, a senior delegation from UoG visited the Multi-University Campus in Düren and FHM’s main campus in Bielefeld to align on the next phase of their joint work.
The delegation from UoG included Vice-Chancellor Clare Marchant DBE, Professor Cathia Jenainati (Executive Dean for Partnerships), and Dr. Rachel Vieira (Deputy Head of School – Business, Computing and Social Sciences). Together with FHM leadership, they reviewed the partnership’s progress, confirmed the existing cooperation agreement through 2026, and discussed plans for expanding academic offerings.
“Our partnership with the University of Gloucestershire is immensely valuable to both sides,” said Professor Dr. Volker Wittberg, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs at FHM. “It brings together British and German academic excellence and delivers international perspectives directly to the Rhineland region. Together, we are educating highly qualified professionals equipped to shape digital transformation.”
Clare Marchant also expressed her confidence in the future of the partnership, noting that it will continue to produce outstanding programs for students.
Since its inception, the collaboration has provided a strong impulse for regional development. Alongside the current bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Cyber Security, additional academic programs are in development. Both universities are also exploring new collaboration models and joint research initiatives to secure the long-term innovation potential of the partnership.
The visit once again highlighted: This partnership is not just an academic project—it is a strategic initiative contributing to the development of an international education and innovation hub in the Rhineland region.
