FHMU Students from India discover the Berlin-Brandenburg Metropolitan Region
Indian students of the Master's programme “International Management” (group MA-IM-23-B-VZ) could discover a huge range of branches and workplaces for their upcoming internship phase in their module “Business Cases & Experts Colloqiums”.
Thus, they learned about alternative energies and concepts from H2 MOBILITY Deutschland (GmbH & Co. KG) on the FHM Expert Circle. On a city tour they visited the Parliament`s district around the Brandenburg Gate. Two other trips led to Klaistow and Marienwerder/Ruhlsdorf (near Bernau) in the federal state of Brandenburg. By 2050, there will not only be 10 billion people in the world, but 80% of them will live in cities. Food and agriculture are seen as key sectors for tackling nutritional problems. In Klaistow the students learned from company host Ulrich Wehner about the company history of the farms of the Ernst August Winkelmann family and the portfolio of agricultural production from asparagus, strawberries, blueberries, pumpkin to Christmas goose. After puddling strawberries in the field, the students visited the administrative town of Beelitz and the grounds of the Stadtpark, which were designed during the Landesgartenschau Beelitz 2022 last year. The trip to the countryside was concluded with a visit to the showcase company of MAX Holzbau in Marienwerder, Ruhlsdorf. Founded by owner Burkhard Schröder, nowadays Max Holzbau has four divisions, two production sites and a design and architecture office. The family business employs 85 people, including 6 apprentices and 8 engineers. The students learned how quality-conscious building with natural materials is possible in terms of CO2-reduced building. Wood is a renewable raw material that makes a significant contribution to climate protection by binding CO2. On behalf of the students Prof. Dr. Heike Bähre thanks Ms. Anja Scheunemann, Head of the Berlin-Brandenburg State Economic Senate (“Leiterin des Landeswirtschaftssenats”) of the BVMW Bundesverband Der Mittelstand e.V., who supported and helped professionally and organisationally preparing the excursion with Association Senator Burkhard Schröder.
