Research & Development

The FHM has relied on a variety of research and development projects - known as R&D - since its foundation. The industrial SME sector and the skilled trades define the identity-forming core of the research and development profile. The FHM's application-oriented research has already been classified as "impressive" by the German Science Council; the FHM is also one of the strongest research universities in the European Union.

More than 30 European, national and regional projects currently characterize the profile of a distinctive SME research at FHM. We focus on research and development in our eight defined research fields and are constantly developing ideas and concepts for new R&D projects with a national and international focus. Incidentally, FHM has a comprehensive range of externally funded projects with a total turnover of 15 million euros in the years 2021 to 2024. The turnover of current third-party funded projects is continuously more than 3.5 million euros per year.
